![]() ![]() The question, then becomes, which capture settings match the camera? The capture settings (as you will find on all of the posts) must match the camera settings. I, too plan to remain in the HDV format until final output. I, too have just started shooting with a Z1. Let me know why I am correct or incorrect this thinking. Many people are talking about downconverting from the cam, for ease of use,or editing in native HDV (which just doesnt seem a good idea to me, editing in a Long GOP format).Īm I wrong in assuming that if you can retain the 1080i resolution by using the Apple Intermediate Codec throughout the edit, including doing titles and compositing in 1080i, the output to SD and DVD is going to be better than if you did all your compositing/titles in DV (after a conversion in camera)? I'm wondering if anyone is editing in this codec and why or why not. To me it seems like the best option, because you are retaining the resolution and converting to an Iframe format (I am not concerned about disk space/speed). I just got my Sony Z1 yesterday and am looking forward to shooting with it, but I'm wondering about the method of capture and when to convert.Īfter search these boards extensively, I don't see hardly anyone talking about editing in the Apple Intermediate Codec.
